Explaination of "Shirk"
The very basic defination to shirk in very plain terms is "SETTING UP PARTNERS IN WORSHIP WITH ALLAH(swt)" As said in the holy Quran Chap no 4- Ayah 48 Verily, Allâh forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allâh in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. It is clearly evident from the above that the biggest and most grave sin that is present in the muslim society today is "SHIRK".

IGNORANCE
Every Muslim has proclaimed the shadah ie. la-illaha-illal-la which means there is no GOD but Allah. In every salah(prayer) he recites sura Fatiha(the opening verse of holy quran), it says (1:5) Thee alone we obey; Thee alone we ask for help. "Only You we obey and are subservient to You, and it is only to You we return for help".
Obedience to Allah in true sense means compliance with the laws contained in the Qur'an. It also implies that no one has the right to intercede with Allah on our behalf(except by his permission), as it is to Him alone that we turn for help. When one utters this Ayat, he or she promises Allah that he or she will obey only Allah and ask for help from Allah(swt) alone -- no 'pir','faqir',vali is to be invoked after this commitment to Allah. After this commitment asking for help from others than Allah becomes Shirk (i.e. associating partners with Allah) which is strictly forbidden in Islam. |
